On The Wings Of Love -TV Series (Review)

I am obsessively in love with this show right now. I never really liked Filipino TV-series, but it’s definitely the first time I’ve fallen completely in love with one ever! You could say it was love at first watch ❤ . ❤
Anyways, yes yes I’m gonna start with the review now! Scroll down please.

I wonder who felt more pain; the person who left or the person who got left behind? Either way I know that it’s painful in both ends. But sometimes beneath those pain, you just got to have courage to turn around and see, see if he’s walking back towards you or if she’s still standing there waiting for you. AND that’s when you know it’s real, that the love is real. If he loves you, he will come back to you no matter what, and if she loves you back she’d wait for you to return to her.
Short summary:
: Romance / Comedy / Drama
: James Reid & Nadine Lustre
A lot of Filipinos live and work outside the country in order for them to support their family and loved ones back home. In the Philippines it’s called being an OFW, and that’s what the two main characters in this series are portraying; two struggling OFWs in the US.
The main girl in the show is called Leah, she’s a dreamer. She flew from the Philippines to America to pursue her dreams; to support her family back home and to find the grave of her late OFW mother. But the problem is, she’s not allowed to stay and work in the US longer than a month(I think?) unless she has a working visa (which she doesn’t have).
Clark is also an OFW but with a permanent residency in the US. He’s a hardworking young man. Growing up, he took over his late mother’s responsibilities to support his two half-siblings back in the Philippines. He takes 2-3 jobs a day in order to help with his financial troubles, but still isn’t enough. He then decided to loan some big amount from some dangerous people. Now he’s been recently threatened (by them) to pay back asap.
A week or so before Leah’s visa expires, her “Tita Jack” told her that the easiest way to stay in the US permanently is to get a Green Card, which you can get through marrying an American resident. Determined to achieve her American dream, Leah accepted her Tita Jack’s advice, and started her search for a “fake” husband.
Get the picture yet guys? Leah is willing to pay someone to be her fake husband until she gets her Green Card, while Clark is willing to do just anything to help with his current financial problem.
Okay so one night, Leah and Clark were finally properly introduced to each other by Tita Jack (yes, they both know her). It took sometime before they both completely agreed to the fake marriage (watch to know why), but desperate times calls for desperate measures, so the fake marriage did happen eventually.
Now what could possibly happen to two people living in the same roof together and pretending to be in love? That’s something we’ll have to see(:
Note:
> Tita Jack is Clark’s aunt, and the mother of Leah’s Ex. She also lives in the US.
> OFW = Overseas Filipino Workers
> If  you’re into Korean dramas then you’d love this show!
> If you want to see the series and you live outside the country (like me), you can see it on tfc.tv (best HD quality and with English subtitles)

When I actually started watching this show, I felt SO relieved that filipinos actually produced a show that accurately describes lives of filipinos, rather than just another love story already so overdone in its drama. Having said so, although it has a love story, the point is that it is intertwined with the bigger theme of the story circulating the reality of the lives of filipinos working hard abroad. A novel direction in its genre combined with a sense of authenticity in representing ofw lives—loving it!
